FAQ's

* 80% of homes in the Northeast heat by burning #2 heating oil which accounts for 80% of #2 oil usage in the United States. In 2008, nearly $1.6 billion was spent on home heating oil. And 75% of that money ($1.2 billion) left the U.S. economy to foreign countries. By using geothermal heat pumps and equipment manufactured in the U.S, installed by U.S. companies, and operated on U.S. generated electricity, we can solve our energy needs, maximize our economy, and improve our national security.

Testimonials

In October 2008, I turned off my oil furnace and turned on my Juniper Geothermal installed Water Furnace. Since then, my house has been at a stable 71 degrees. My reasons for going geothermal include:

  • A steady and reliable source of energy owned by me
    • Freedom from the profit driven speculative market
    • Tax free
    • When the skies are dark or cloudy, geothermal still works
    • When the wind is still, geothermal still works
  • 800 gallons of oil demand removed from the market, improving America’s freedom from dependency on imported oil
  • Green, clean, quiet and 300% plus efficient
  • Heating season to date: 445 gallons of oil not burned into heat at a net savings of $1,537.50
    • For oil to be competitive, it would have to be priced at $1.23 per gallon

Juniper Geothermal brings together a team of competent professionals and guides them promptly through a trouble free installation.  When you go with Bob, and his crews, this is what you can expect:

  • No surprises, no hidden fees, just friendly, candid, consistent and concise communications
  • A superbly managed  system design, clean installation and reliable configuration
  • All of your questions will be researched and fully answered

My five-ton system for a 2500 square foot, two-story colonial has:

  • Three wells to 300 feet
  • Unobtrusive duct work installation
  • Electrical infrastructure upgrade to meet system needs and my intentions

I couldn’t be happier. Geothermal is the best solution for the great State of Maine. Juniper Geothermal is the best team to design and install your Water Furnace installation.

Hi Bob,
Here are a few thoughts about our geothermal heating system and Juniper Geothermal Knowledge & Service throughout the installation process.

My wife and I realized our oil furnace was aging, not to mention that the price of oil at this point time was through the roof - so rather than wait for our oil furnace to fail, we decided to make a change now. Because I had done the original renovation of our 1820's brick house on my own, I was confident that the house would be tight enough to accommodate a geothermal heating system. Because I am a science teacher, I had done enough research to be not only excited about, but confident in the technology. Plus, if the Crawford Ranch, belonging to George Bush, and the Fort Knox Military base both use geothermal, I was confident that I was headed in the right direction.

Of course, the cost can be sobering. But it is important to put several things into perspective. While many people would not blink at spending 30-40K on a SUV, we do not associate that dollar figure with home heating/cooling systems. But which is the better long term investment? Most of us are painfully aware that an automobile is the worst investment we commonly make - and the expense of repairs, insurance, fuel and so on never seems to end. Our geothermal heating system however is a one time investment that adds real value to our home, needs little if any maintaince and repair, makes us dependent only on electricity (say good bye to oil) and will make us more energy independent and stable well into our old age. Because we know we will stay in our home for as long as possible, and we are in our late 40's, we will be able to not only pay off our system, but benefit from it for years to come. While other people worry about the up and down cost of other fuel commodities (oil, firewood, wood pellets, coal) which will be subject to the whims of an up and down market - electricity will most likely stay more stable. At least I can add solar panels or a wind mill if I really get upset about the direction of the future & associated costs (I have an independent streak). While we have enough forested land to have a supply of firewood, we now have the luxury of cutting and using firewood as we please instead of feeling as though we will freeze without it. There are three other functions, aside from heating that our geothermal system performs for us. Because we re-installed a forced hot air system, we will get air conditioning in the summer because the heating system can be reversed to provide cooling during the hot sticky months (dehumidifying as well) - we have never had this comfort before. Secondly, our forced hot air system has a great air filtration system so we will breath cleaner & healthier air. And last, we have a pre-heating arrangement so that the majority of our household hot water will also be provided geothermally! Since the installation and start up of our system in Nov., we have only seen our thermostat leave level one (normal heating demand) and step up to level two (for additional heat) on days colder than -5 degrees F. We have never seen our heating system go into over-drive and call on level 3 for the electric heating element which is there for extreme conditions. Long story short - we have felt warm and consistent heat through out our home!

The service we have received from Juniper Geothermal has been friendly, dependable, knowledgeable and most importantly - honest! If I asked Bob or any of the other gentlemen a question that they were not sure about - they did their homework and got back to me (it is a relatively new technology to many people). Juniper Geothermal was willing to work with me and let do as much or as little of the work as I pleased and as I was able to do. We had to retrofit our home from forced hot water to forced hot air. They designed, created, and installed the ductwork - I did the cutting of holes & sheetrock work required. The workmen were punctual, neat and courteous.

I highly recommend geothermal heating systems to those that can make the investment and I strongly recommend that people consider working with the good people at Juniper Geothermal - they have made this dream possible and an enjoyable experience as well.

Sincerely,
Tom Stocker

Dear Bob Hutchinson,

We wanted to let you know how pleased we are with the 4-ton closed-loop geothermal hot air heating system that you and your personnel have designed and installed in our home. The geothermal heating system has now been in operation since the fall, and has had to handle some very cold weather of late, including nearly -20 °F, all of which it has taken in stride. The geothermal system provides comfortable, even, heating of our two-story Cape Cod, without the noise and other discomforts associated with our previous oil furnace and hot water baseboard system. Furthermore, it brings us peace of mind that we are using a renewable resource to heat our home and no longer need to worry about oil prices and deliveries.
From the initial stages of sizing and designing a geothermal heating system for our home, through the system start-up and subsequent follow-up calls, we have been very pleased with Juniper Geothermal service. The on-site personnel were all very courteous, kept the work areas very clean, and did high quality work that we are proud of.

Thank you again for helping us make our lives a little bit greener. We would not hesitate to recommend Juniper Geothermal to our friends, family, and co-workers.
Sincerely,
Ryan and Melissa Belcher
